About Me

I have been Registered Dietitian for 10 years working in many different healthcare settings.I quickly realized that "counseling" people on healthy eating and weight loss still often resulted in them cycling back to a diet. But why?Throughout the years I have gained a deep understanding that the answer is so much deeper than finding "motivation". The healthcare, and diet/weight loss industry place the blame on us and lead us to believe that we are the lazy, flawed, unmotivated ones. They leave us thinking we are failures, and if we could just "stick to it", we would lose the weight, or get healthy. But it goes so much deeper than this...

In my practice I have first-hand witnessed how it is not black and white. Health is often not tied to weight like have been taught. I've seen very healthy, fit people in big bodies, people with diabetes and high cholesterol in thin bodies, people who lose weight and their health remains the same, people who get their blood sugar and cholesterol and blood pressure under control without losing weight. If health was so dependent on weight, then why would I see these trends over and over?

I have lead countless people to find better health and more peace in their life with my knowledge and empathetic, authentic way of counseling. I acknowledge that every human has their own experiences and beliefs. Which means that I will meet you where you are at and we will move forward from there. I will never push changes on you that you are not ready or willing to make. I will never suggest eating foods that you despise or exercise that you hate or cannot do. There is always a way to meet your health goals (as long as you bring a ready, open mind).

You will never hear me say that you need to lose weight. I will help you focus on what you need to do in order for your body to lose the weight that it is meant to so that it can be at its healthiest. With that said, I understand that this may not look like an "ideal" body weight or a certain "BMI" because those scales have a history most healthcare practitioners were never taught and are more harmful than helpful. They do not define you as a person and I will not ever use them.

I have deep knowledge in diabetes, cholesterol/heart health, gastrointestinal disorders (IBS, Celiac Disease, Diverticulitis, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, Intolerances/Allergies, and more), Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating. Please contact me to see if Medical Nutrition Therapy is available virtually in your state. If it is not, I am still able to teach you everything you need to know about finding balance with food and healthier body image.
